OK, I need an opinion. I'm following the suggestion of isolating the Police station a bit (I'm going to have a cleared rubble section running from the Police HQ to city hall). I've also shrunk the station by about 30%.
Now I need to make it look decent. I wanted to obscure the bottom of the station, so here's an attempt (it's pulled out of the rest of the sat map so the background is black at the moment). Thoughts?

Ben, that is amazing!! I really like how you can see the height of the station. It adds great depth to the image. _________________ www.propsummit.com

Again, thanks for all the great input everyone! I'll be applying most of the suggestions as I go along.
For now, I'm bouncing around to different areas to keep my interest up. This is the progress of an "uber-slum" in the lower portion of the map, where the Bradbury is. In the shots from the film, it always looked to me like the buildings were taller away from the Bradbury.
In case you're wondering, that slightly out-of-place looking building with the bright roof is the actual Bradbury, where it is actually located, at scale.
(The building with the circular areas will eventually be city hall, with a cleared rubble area leading t the police station). |

Oh, one other addition I forgot to show (I'll probably shrink it a bit):

Here's the status so far. The city buildout is tedious, and when it's done, there will be a lot of color tweaking to do, but here it so far.
A couple of details: I don't know if you can tell, but the tops of the Tyrell pyramids actually poke through the cloud cover. Also, there are D-S and Tyrell logos on a couple of those huge round tanks:

Ben,
Kind of an odd question, but will you offer this map in a digital version? I understand that by giving the file out it would allow others to print their own, but I think it would be cool to be able to zoom in on the pc to see all the detail that you created.
Anyway, I am just dreaming
Thanks for sharing!

Hmmmm.... I might consider it. A whileback someone had done an "ESPER" screen saver as well (it zoomed in on sections of an image) - I suppose that might be kind of cool as well.... |

One other little detail. This is a mid-town hospital. Firefly fans might recognize the medical symbol....

Thought I'd post an update:
And a zoom in on the partially complete trench running between city hall (over the actual city hall) and the police HQ (over Union Station):

OK, I've finished the sat map portion. Now I have to do the text overlay.
Here's the original sat map, circa 2007:
And circa 2019:
