Thanks for the tip Han, i'll do that as soon as i get time !...Also i suppose you guys noticed that the 4 seams were too thin contrary to the screen used one...so i thought about having it done again by a dressmaker with some thicker thread... _________________ I know what you're thinking...did he fire six shots or only five ?

Certainly looks like it. The v.2 as the collar is bigger on that one. Its a good coat, just plan on getting wet if you use it as a rain coat. _________________

If you do take the shirt to have the stitching beefed up, you might want to make sure that the tailor/dressmaker uses a stabilizer so the fabric doesn't buckle.
I found a backstitch or satin stitch allows you to use regular thread, which has a greater color variety. Often heavier thread has limited options since it is intended for construction intead of detailing and most home sewers just use all-purpose thread.
A backstitch means the needle goes over the same spot more than once, laying down a thicker line than just one pass does; a satin stitch is a very narrow zigzag that is close together, similar to a buttonhole on a shirt. I've used both and both are very effective in making a line of stitching pop. _________________ Is this testing whether I'm a Replicant or a lesbian, Mr. Deckard? |

I wasn't totally satisfied with my Deck's shirt...let me explain the fabric is good imo but the overall look is off. I wanted first to use black dye like Han Jones did with his shirt but, even if it was a good alternate answer, faded the nice blue and pink colors...The less i could say is that i didn't choose the easy way out but finally i think the result was worth the time i spend on it...So here it is :
Yep ! i finally bought a few grey color specific marker to do the job, this last one consisting in coloring the white crossed lines in grey !
At the very end i used no less than 12 of these markers, of course it was a work of patience and as my grandpa always said, all good things take their time !!
Of course, to finalise the work, i had to iron the shirt to fix the grey color particularly if i want to wash my shirt... _________________ I know what you're thinking...did he fire six shots or only five ?

That is exactly what I was thinking about doing if I got the shirt. I want to know more about these markers. My other idea was to do a Batik technique putting wax in the colored areas and dying the rest of the shirt darker.

Well, i don't know much about Batik, the marker is quite a common one, mine is from Pebeo brand...I think you can find that kind of pen almost everywhere ! _________________ I know what you're thinking...did he fire six shots or only five ?

Boy, filling this shirt in with the fabric pen takes time... How long did it take you? I dyed mine first to look like Han's but it still didn't read black enough, so I am adding the repdetect look. Its looking great will post pics when done... _________________ I just do eyes. |
