I have been watching the episodes on HULU and loving them. Some great BR parallels. It touches on many ideas I would have done with a full on BR series. If you can get over the early 90's TV style action and acting, it is a show that could have been great on it's own and very worth watching.

I loved this show. It was billed as Total Recall, but it really had much more of a BR vibe to it, and it really dealt a lot with the themes of androids that are becoming indistinguishable from humans, and memories.
It really was for its time the closest one got to a Blade Runner TV series.
Shame it got canned before it really got a chance to take off. I've been looking to get my hands on the whole series on dvd. Watched it all in its first run on Showtime, then again on Hulu, but I'd like to add it to my library of dvds. _________________

I just watched the Episode 'Bones Beneath My Skin' and noticed the shot glassed and the non-ball version of the dispenser being used as an energy "endorph" drink dispenser.

Hey, I was the ‘visual futurist’ for that show; I designed the weapons, police cruiser (which was initially going to be a new Johnny Cab) and many of the sets… and yes; at the art dept. most of us worked with the forethought this was essentially Blade Runner on Mars- I’m very happy that you guys got that from it as well.
I’ve never watched the whole run- just the pilot, although I’ve heard the second half of the series started to get interesting. One thing that bothered me about the concept of the show was the wonderful ambiguity of Quaid’s mental state (is it for real or just a Recall illusion) was nullified as ‘2070’ basically spelled out that Mars had indeed been Terraformed at the end of Verhoeven’s film. |

Very cool. Great to have you here. I loved that show, and was a bit of a cyberpunk at the time working for a lot of small Tech companies at the time. We all loved the show, and were very upset it was canceled. I have to admit, that like most shows it was just beginning to get past it's awkward stage, the characters were getting fleshed out, and the plots were getting more complex just before it was canceled. It was always a kind of Blade Runner methadone for me while there was nothing much to get at that time period.

This is a pre-production sketch of the upper street level- ‘not sure if it was mentioned in the series or not; the Martian city was supposed to be built in levels with support pillars holding each consecutive level above each other, the idea was concocted since the set was built in a studio that was once a military base; more or less a bomb-proof bunker that had these massive concrete pillars every 20 meters (if memory serves)... so the 'Chicago' hotel sign submerges beneath the street level to the next tier beneath.
If you’d like to see some more art just let me know, I’ve got a few in a binder… unfortunately I kept most of the art in zip discs and now have no way to retrieve it… not even sure where the damn things are.
…anyway, you can clearly see the Ridleyville influence while maintaining a different style:

Yep, I totally got the layers thing.
I would also love to see more artwork as well. I think I may have a Zip drive that we through away at work. They also seem to show up at thrift stores all the time.
I have most of my work from then on floppies including 5 1/4" floppy discs. Worse they were from Deluxe Paint on an Amiga, and Show Partner from Brightbill Roberts (Where I worked for a little while). Not that too much of my work from then even matter very likely
Great stuff, please keep it coming.

It seems we can not watch it in Canada. The video is only available to the US.
Oh Well.....

Gary, ironically the show was filmed in Toronto; almost the entire crew (excluding producer, directors and actors) were Canadian. I moved there to work on it- bounced around a few other shows and then moved back to the west… actually, I bought a kit from you not too long ago- the Crane Zoanoid, remember? |

Guns seem to be popular ‘round these parts, so…
Here’s the ‘Laser Rifle’… original concept was a compact yet heavily powered weapon; a futuristic version of a tommy gun.
As seen in the photos of the hero prop, it was built so that by removing a section and adding a couple of separate parts you could extend it to make a completely different weapon- a meaner, military rifle; this saved some cash in prop building costs. Numerous rubber stunts were made of each version.
They were finished in metallic copper and browns… notice the BR style grip and LED fare .
The unofficial moniker for this gun was “Swainson 12-5978”, which showed in the graphic stickers that were applied later (named after a friend, Leigh).

Hi Aguirre
I certainly do remember you.
Have you built the kit yet?
I would love to see some pictures of it.
