O.B. thought I should repeat myself so here you go:
and with very little to-do, I bring you a little MySpace page. It will be updated often and followed shortly by a real website, but as in all things, one must do with what one has.
http://www.myspace.com/361131690
and yes, this is the place to call dibs on the next Trenchcoat. I will be posting pics and blogging about projects past, present and future. And now that I have internet at home, I will be checking this daily. Effective last week, I am now devoting a portion of my week solely to tailoring. A bit scary but if it goes south I can always live off of O.B.
I can't say thanks enough to everyone for their feedback and encouragement; I know I'm never here but someone is always keeping me updated. So all I can say is here goes and no pushing. _________________ Is this testing whether I'm a Replicant or a lesbian, Mr. Deckard? |

so this was getting lots of hits, no replies. Didn't seem like a question I guess.
Lots of questions about whether I would be willing/able to do replicas for other characters. And the answer is yes. Variety is the spice of life, and I like spicy.
I will start working on sketches for Batty, with the caveat being that this will not be a leather coat. For several reasons. One is that leather is prohibitively expensive, another that leatherwork is just a different art than tailoring. Also, as has been noted, the odds of an off-world replicant being able to get his hands on a leather trenchcoat (short of murder and mayhem) are very small.
thoughts? is this coat vinyl or another synthetic fabric? what about neoprene? Next time I'm at my supplier, I'll take some swatches and put it up for discussion.
Gaff's coat is a relatively simpler matter, with it being mostly wool tweed. His wardrobe just looks like a lot of fun, but maybe that's because I secretly wish it was still the 80s. I rocked that look! _________________ Is this testing whether I'm a Replicant or a lesbian, Mr. Deckard? |

Sorry gotta play devil's advocate here. I think that Batty's coat was in fact leather. He could have gotten it off one of the shuttle passengers, and we should assume 'murder and mayhem' in the process according to Bryant's description of the shuttle hijacking.
Although its far more likely that its made of some synthetic leather, most likely from a synthetic cow or some such.
As to the screen used coat... It could be leather, but more likely its some kind of pleather or vinyl material. _________________

Hi Rachael;
Do you do replica's of Zhora's plastic raincoat?
Or does anyone know where I could get one?
Thanks a lot,
Jill |

Welcome aboard jill...I believe that Rachael is no longer on this board (Andy, or somebody else could confirm the news). You could always contact her directly on her web-site for any inquiry regarding costumes from BR. |

Thanks for the welcome and for letting me know.
I'm not a member of MySpace, so can't send her a message there.
Hopefully someone will have ideas about where I can get a coat.
Cheers,
Jill |

Racheal is still a member here, but doesn't check in here much any more since her boyfriend is no longer a member. Somewhere there are links to her website, but people have reported back that she hasn't responded to inquiries through her email there either. I have no good ideas on this topic.

Thanks, Andy.
I looked at her website, but weirdly, there is no contact information there.
Cheers,

Habbyshot makes a fairly good Deck's coat...if that's what you need. |

No, not Deckard's coat; I'm looking for Zhora's clear plastic raincoat (the one she "gets retired" in).

Last year Target was selling a line of women's clear rain coats, that were even cut similar to Zhora's coat. Unfortunately they were also made in colored plastic, and I never saw a non-colored clear one. They sold out very quickly so I expect they may show up again elsewhere.

Or: do a few research on this board (pics and stuff), then find the clear plastic material and a good seamstress, so she can copy the cut of the one Zhora wears. |

Thank you for the suggestions, Andy and Joberg.
Getting clothes made where I live is a bit out of my budget, so I'll check Target!

Close but no cigar Cable; the one Zohra wears in the movie doesn't have visible pockets...if at all. Shorter and cropped. difficult to find the same model: has to be done from scratch imho. |

It had pockets, but was also a much thicker vinyl and clearer...

The clear Target one does not seem to be available anymore. I only saw it briefly in the store as well. It also was colored but still see through. In orange, purple and yellow IIRC. When I saw it though I knew the designer had to be inspired by BR, because the shape, length and cut were pretty close.
