With all the MARVEL/DC stuff flying around, perhaps I was just in the mood for a decent, entertaining sci-fi movie with a good story/believeable plot, good action, solid performances and a moving score, and I was pleasantly surprised by OBLIVION. Loved it.
The set, vehicles and designs were great. The vistas (shared with Ridley's PROMETHEUS) were just as incredible, but the effect achieved by the remarkable sky station set was stunning. Watching it in IMAX, I became oblivious of my surroundings -

See it in IMAX, before it's lost in the blurr of Summer Super Heroes - R13 _________________ Gosh, you've really got some nice toys here . . .

TFS Dave and thanks for the link...interesting in what way if you don't mind me asking?
Saw what they did in terms of effects on that particular set, and since it's an old trick, I wonder if more and more Directors will use it also. |

Old trick - just put to very effective use. With so much dependent on blue-screen and CG, it's nice to see something so basic work to such a beautiful result. Seemed more organic, more real to me . . . .
(And yes, there was plenty of CG as well).
Just an effective use of both. - R13 _________________ Gosh, you've really got some nice toys here . . . |

Yes, the "bleeding" of blue-screen or green is always a prob.
I know that the critics have said that the film is great visually but story wise is a little thin...I'll probably see it on DVD for sure |
