Loved the fact the new Enterprise was given a proper throttle, two actually for the warp drive and after seeing it again in the new movie have started to become a little obsessed
by the hero`s. Looks to be something off a luxury yacht so may be a found item.

It would be great if a toy company made a version of these with all the sounds and lights and a rumble effect like the game controllers. _________________ Formerly offworld66

This is a good one Tim (you're right about that boat idea).
As for toy, I wouldn't mind a repro of the little Braun fan Deckard has on his desk; would be simple enough me think |

Did a google image search on luxury yacht throttles/controls and eventually found the throttle used by the production. Its a ZF Marine normal profile Smart Command 5200 control head.
This is not the kinda prop that one should get obsessed by as the cheapest one ive found is $1300.00. To put a perspective on the dizzy world of luxury yachting, theres one for sale here
in Australia for $10,000.

Thanks J, looks like they didnt do much to it other than put caps on the sides and bridge the gap.
Found a picture from the new movie that confirms for me the brand used and that they just bridged the gap with something. Will not give up on having one of these easily,
have emailed ZF head office in Germany to see if an order can be placed for just the "shell" with no internal components. Worth a shot.

Too bad Tim...maybe a 3-D printing model could be also in the card? |

Ive pretty much given up on factoring 3D printing into any of my projects going into the future J. Bad experiences at therpf in terms of what is promised and what would be delivered have
tempered my expectations. Saying that, if anyone wants to draw up the design and print one out, cool. The only possible problem would be the final texture.
The chrome can be achieved easily enough nowadays but the suface would have to be totally smooth. Add a few red lights and next stop Warp Nine. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Well to be fair, the Enterprise in "Star Trek the Motion Picture" also had a proper throttle.

Love it. The last time I saw ST TMP was a long time ago on VHS. Do you have any other pictures of that throttle in your archive Karl? Looks like something I could replicate.
The journey through the years is pretty cool, start with a stick shift from a 60`s muscle car to a stick shift from a luxury yacht.
Saw your post this morning and watched the Blu Ray Ive had for ages but never played. Looks incredible, costumes and overly drawn out moments aside,
head and shoulders above all the following films for mine. Maybe only just a head in front of Khan. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

I'll have to see what other shots I can find. The throttle doesn't get any specific closeups. And for WOK they took the T-handle part off, so it's reduced to just a stick.
These are all TrekCore shots btw, I'll have to check my photo archive later when I get home.

No better shots of the stick in the files. I do have this page from the Lee Cole Flight Manual, which was drawn up to show the actors how to operate their consoles.

Very rare shot of a setup from Phase II era test footage. You can see there's a stick there too but it seems to have a smaller and simpler T-handle.

From the "cleared bridge" sequence near the end of the film.

Seems like a dropper (made for lab work): you have a handle and you can measure the exact amount of liquid you put in a test tube everytime you squeeze the handle or push one of the button (maybe I'm off completely and if yes, I'll blame it on old age ). |
