I found this on deviantart.com ...it's just a name, not a theme :-]
That site is for artists and art fans of all types, and while looking for anything that caught my attention (short as it is), I came across this:
The artists name is: Bloommer

TFS CC Beautiful Art that one, and the others for the same artist.
Deviant Art is a fountain of many type/genre (you should check the Cosplays around there too ) |

Frankly, I never understood cosplay.
While the idea of being on a set like the Nostromo bridge is fun to contemplate, the idea of actually dressing up in a costume that has no basis in reality (in public) just doesn't do it for me. _________________

Well CC, as someone who worked for a while in fashion, we're all sporting some kind of "costume" designed by someone else
Unless you're doing your own and that also could be an argument for discussion, you're just buying here and there pieces to make your "own style" to better represent your personality (individual) but still adhering to the masses and not to clash too much with the rest (group acceptance)
But I can understand that the time of playing Cow-Boys and Indians is over for a bunch of us, while others are still in that frame of mind. |

My feeling is that, for a great many of us, we like the idea that our sense of adventure, our need for the occasional adrenaline rush is kept in check by playing games and watching movies like Alien.
FPS games are a great way of getting a slight rush, but without getting our hands dirty or having a long-lasting effect...we can shut if off at any time.
Cosplay is just another step along that line, just more concrete one requiring more participation.
While I can appreciate that some feel the need to go that step further, it's not something I have an interest in, although I'd truly enjoy having a full size mock-up of the Nostromo in my back yard :-] _________________

Excellent artwork!
To JoBerg's earlier point - to each, their own.
I am always amused by what's deemed acceptable and what is not. Living in a sports-obsessed society, (sadly) there are those who point and laugh at the geeks who paint and dress up in costumes. But often, those same individuals then paint themselves in bright colors from head to toe and/or don team "costumes" to public sports arenas, with even larger and more public media exposure, in support of a given team (for which they also don't play).

Well, that's one pitcher I wouldn't like to face
Sure Dave, to each its own, live and let live I'm cool with all of that and much more. I remember going to work with the same flight suit that Ripley wears in Alien and getting the look, the laughs and the sneer of others (I like the attention).
There's a lot of people on this planet that seems to have the God given right to be judge and jury (and since I'm not perfect, I've been guilty in doing the same thing on many occasions...which in retrospect makes me regret my actions )
