|
|
A thread popped up on therpf a month or two ago about said watch and it stirred up some unresolved issues so got inspired to try and resolve it.
Started with two of these $3 jobs, total bust with unworkable size, shape and bands. Took forever to get here as well.
Had a plan B though and got these two very common watches cheap and locally and luckily the bits got together nicely.
So far so good, everything has the right shape and dimensions. Thinking of a hinge set up to join them and keeping the plastic face covers and spraying with gold and then clear red or just cut out
clear plastic and clear red.

Thanks mate, standard Tamiya primer then gold. Its worked well in the past when replacing or adding badge numbers to some NYPD badges.
The gold watch is one of the dozens available on ebay for around $3 that ship from China, found a local seller for $6. The casio`s are brilliant and were only $8 each locally.
Also all over ebay. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

LOL. I didn't even notice his watch until stumbling across this thread. Your projects are an inspiration. Thank you. BTW. Loved the briefcase. I used several of your pics to guide me in assembling my own. |

Thanks. Yeah the briefcase was a lot of fun.
Someone else made a version of this watch many years ago and it had retail packaging as well, cant remember who it was though or find the pictures. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Shaped a small hinge off a cheap craft box to bridge the watches and cut out some clear plastic and sprayed with translucent red till I got the dark red right.
For around $20 all up, very happy with the end result.

That looks excellent. The gold looks very subtle and almost a brushed finish, a world away from the gawdy cheap gold that the bracelet had originally. You said it was tamiya primer was it also tamiya gold too, if so is it a particular shade of gold or do they only have one type? Again a lovely piece and doesn't break the bank either _________________ Tell him I'm eating.. |

Thanks.
Bb, I ended up using a run of the mill gold spray. The Tamiya can I had dried up and didn't want to blow out the budget so went with what was on hand. Did use Tamiya primer on the cases
though none on the bands just a light coat of the gold on either side, works fine for a strictly display piece. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

50 euro's . Both watched were only around £7 when I ordered mine and it only took me 30 mins with my leathermans
to join the two together, so they're charging about 40euro for the effort ppffft _________________ Tell him I'm eating.. |

He`s missing the point not making the deep red fronts, yeah you can tell the time but its just two cheap watches stuck together without them and the straps should be length adjusted. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |
