As the subject goes, would adding a blog feature be a waste of time?
Please tell me your thoughts!
Thanks,

It might be cool for progress threads, I have a SNUB on the way that I plan on documenting. _________________ Wait; I'm having one of those things! You know; a headache with pictures? |

We just started to kick that and more image hosting around staff at the RPF.
Kind of got siderailed with the recent Russian Hack.
As we finish security software updates we'll probably give it another look. I've got no idea what kind of load it would put on servers and software if 300 guys suddenly go blog nuts. :LOL
I think for a small forum like this it may be quite managable especially if focusing mostly on BR interests.
From a personal POV I'd like to see blogs that are devoted to things members want to share about themselves outside of prop replication. Relatively narrow in scope or maybe uncluttered? After looking at some of the stuff on My Space...neat and tidy come to mind.
Nothing less interesting than a poorly presented blog. |

I think that is the trick. Blogs about your personal life tend to become a bunch of junk (ala myspace). I think if they were primarily about props it would lend itself to being relevant. That doesn't mean it can't be personal too, but it would help keep them from turning into dull drivel about what I had for dinner and how it seems there are always too many cups to wash at the end of the day. _________________ Wait; I'm having one of those things! I will start looking into the blog feature again I was envisioning it being used for tutorials, progress notes, or whatever else your heart desires.
Give me a couple weeks to find the right software and get it in place and hopefully it will work out well!
Thanks for the input

Eggsactly! One thing about crappy threads and posts is that they eventually fall off the edge of the forum. Blogs have a air of permanence and I am concerned on how that may affect the forum. They are like mini-billboards and even though done by the individual they reflect on the whole. There will always be that guy that devotes his blog to religious forms toad licking or images of ingrown toenails....
Tutorials etc would be great. I think a reference type forum might do the trick. That way someone who has minor input can still state his piece for all to see.. |
