Wow, now we're talking about the set and the filming ...very good work indeed, shame that it'll be an animation piece: no smoke effect on the set Crying or Very sad
Oh well, doesn't matter, you're the only one here who has takled that architectural grail Cool

That is coming along amazingly. The scale is very impressive. I hope you have a garage/basement to set this up in or do it in sections that can be moved around. It looks huge.

A couple of observations that I had were. The stairwell to the left of Deckard's apartment door. It would make sense to make access to it somewhere, even if it is just around the corner where we never see it on film.

Also the second bedroom. When we see Rachael coming down the hall to his room, I seem to recall a window in that room similar to the one in the living room, with lighting behind it of course.

Great work man!

yes, i agree with the hallway leading to nowhere... i will design something. But i didnt notice my window in the OTHER bedroom was MISSING untill you said so... perhaps i saved it on the backup version instead. Glad you all like this... i am having a blast building it. Very Happy

Yep, impressive set that will be "cut" in many sections for easy filming...or according to the screenplay, only a part will be build?..unless you build the whole thing, as represented in the drawing, and start to charge an entrance fee . Kathy, TX is a little far away from Canada, but I would make an effort just to see it with my own eyes

There is now so much in there that is different from how I imagined it, I need to go back to the DVD sets and see what I missed.

As i fine tune the SketchUp version, i am wondering if any one knows how to SHARE this type of file. I want to give it out with the hard copy floorplans, but DONT want it showing up on the net or in the Google 3D model warehouse... any one know how to do this? Confused

Hi there

This thread inspired me to sign up. Great work, I've really enjoyed seeing this come together! You're a dab hand at this. As for sharing the file, you can host it on sites like www.yousendit.com and only share the link with certain people.

I would love to be able to get a copy of the model - I can do lighting with sketchup models and would love to try a quick render of it - you can see some examples of what I've done with sketchup below:

http://mgc.carbonmade.com/projects/3206995

Obviously only to post them here for fun once I was done; I'm not making my own Deckard set or anything.

Again, great work - as an art department guy I've looked at Deckards set and been perplexed by the layout, so well done.

Heh, that's actually a Krups but I think their design philosophies are very similar - or were, anyway. That piece is actually a reference to Back To The Future, as it's the same prop used to make Mr Fusion on the cars. Thanks though! Smile
