I've read about moon colonies on wikipedia and I am wondering will we every get back there and live there? This thread is where I hope to discuss it.
There is a plan to have scientists get up there by 2019...
Mods feel free to move to general blade runner discussion. _________________ I am busy planning things that don't happen, and procrastinating things that I don't want to happen.

I believe that we'll get there in my lifetime (cuz I don't plan on going anywhere for quite a while), but definitely not by 2019 (certainly not since the Constellation project was canceled).
Also, I've moved this to the Coffee Shop, since it's really more of an Off-Topic discussion than anything particularly BR related. _________________ Pete |

I hope in my lifetime we get out to a moon or planet. I don't know realistically know if the U.S.A will make it. It would be an amazing feat in my opinion to make it back out there kinda relive moral like in the sixties when it was the space race U.S. vs. the Reds.... It would be cool if we made it there and made a commune of some sort.
BTW: I was thinking off world colonizations being in this discussion and what not it's kinda borderline but I trust your judgment.... _________________ I am busy planning things that don't happen, and procrastinating things that I don't want to happen.

Yes, lot's of potential on the Moon but also lot's of technological/engineering problems to resolve. Lot's of money to be spent on that project...Maybe the Chinese will be there first |

You are probably right joberg LOL!!!! I remember watching the last moon landing when I was a kid.... almost 4 decades have past and no one has gone back... err of course people have a choice..wars and defense spending or space exploration. of course I guess they can always decide to stop repairing roads HA HA HA!!!
I do not think it will happen in our lifetime. _________________ ______________________________________

I'll root for any country who goes back there.... I just think there are a lot of good reasons to do it hell 200-500 years from now whoever sends that ship up will be worshiped like Columbus! _________________ I am busy planning things that don't happen, and procrastinating things that I don't want to happen.

Sadly the real world has always lagged a bit behind the fictional world.
It's 2010 and no news reports about genetics companies considering advancing robot evolution using a flesh and plasma based android.
Of course I write this as I pour a fresh one from an appropriately angular bottle of JWB, so the future isn't all bad, just lagging behind a bit. _________________

Yeah Loyalizer...imagine pouring billion of dollars into technologies geared toward androids, nanotech, artificial intelligence instead of pouring these dollars into wars and armements Then you'd have science fiction now! But the world is never what we've imagined it to be...reality trumps everything |
