As long as his fortune isn't to stop doing origami you should be set. Very Happy

Edit: I split this from the chicken ashtray so we could talk about each thing seperately If anyone think I should merge them back together, please let me know -Amish

Just when I think I'm nearing the end of BR collection a new thing pops up. Cool find.

I got my ashtray in the mail today! It's basically pristine, there's not a scratch on it. I'm stoked!

How many cranes left? Wink Tell him its really good luck to make chickens for prop geeks. Anyhow, if he gets his fortune and whatnot I'm down for a chicken and/or a unicorn. I tried the unicorn for myself and it was huge and awful. Laughing

well fer size I think that Gaff made the unicorn out of the foil from a cigerette pack ...( couldn't see him carting aqround craft supplies) I tried and came really close but after an hour of figiting I made an oragami stone and threw it away ...the chicken was small as well ....thats what makes it so difficult

Andy,

Very cool find!!!

As for the unicorn, I been meaning to talk to my wife about it. She is good at origami, and I just keep forgetting.

If I find the right chance, I will mention it to her

I always thought the unicorn origami was from a foil gum wrapper.

Willoughby tosses one up on ebay every now and then, at least i'm pretty sure it's GW unless ben does them. I gotta go to bed.

Gary does put them up from time to time and he supposedly hires somebody to do them for him. I have also talked to him about visiting the forum and he told me he has since I informed him, but he didn't sign up.

I once made a Foil origami crane from a gum wrapper and it ended up being very small, less than 1/2" tall. I am pretty sure the unicorn was made from origami foil, maybe cut down a bit. I need to try my hand at it again, I used to be very good. Me and a friend created a book of origami spacecraft in junior high school. I did a lot the illustrations as well, we both came up with the designs. I will have to see if I can dig it up. I am sure my memory makes it better than it actually was. Smile

I started to ask my wife about this last night, but got sidetracked by our son. I will attempt today I know she is pretty good at it as she used to make these little paper octagon shaped boxes that are about 1/4" to 1/2" in size...

If she can make them, I will gladly see if I can get some done for everyone. The hard part is finding the correct paper that was used.

Foil origami paper isn't too hard to get hold of. The problem is that most times, it's sold in multi-colored packs, of which only 1 or 2 sheets is silver. You'd probably have to buy a bunch of packets (and be left with a bunch of left-over papers) in order to do even a small run of these.

If your wife can do them, Tom, let me know. I have a contact through whom I buy lots of origami paper. She might be able to work something out for us (maybe list it as samples or something).

I have packs of Origami paper galore, problem is that it got packed away either from when I moved out of my ex-fincee's or when the office closed down...so it is in one of many boxes or tubs piled in my storage space.

The instructions for folding Gaff's unicorn have been online for a long time, but I've never been able to find directions for folding Gaff's chicken. Is anyone aware of a link?

I guess it should be pretty easy to improvise on the woody -- uh, I mean wooden -- matchstick man. Wink

Not just at the moment. If only I could get a bit of privacy, I'm sure I could work one up.

Oh, wait, you mean the matchstick man? No, not just at the moment. But if I could get a bit of privacy...

The trick, I suspect, will be forming the splinter-like "third leg" that enables the man to stand erect.

The other third leg that enables the man to stand erect should be relatively simple.
