Now. I don't know how anyone could improve on Morgan13's replica he has made.
However, if you were to find an real Rexim-flavor (not sure on this spelling) SMG. you might... good luck with that one. LOL
So here is the real deal.

Thanks Stephen to share those pics with us: very cool to see the real prop (as always). It's true that the one made by Morgan13 is very good and the best out-there for the moment |

Thanks for sharing! Not sure what else I could do to Shawn's model except maybe leave it in a dusty basement for a decade. _________________ Wait; I'm having one of those things! You know; a headache with pictures? |

Yeah. Mine is too new looking.
But putting it side by side.... hard to tell there is a difference.
That dude rocks when it comes to weapon replication. |

Wow! What amazing pics! Got 'em saved.
I have one of Shawn's kits, too. I finished it a while back, but I'll seriously have to consider some additional weathering.
Thanks for sharing, Stephen! _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

Holy sh#t, those are great! My pistol project has been slow going. Wanna do it up right. So far, I have the real scope and mounting hardware, and a real single-point scope. Shawn's scope castings are about a quarter of an inch too short for some reason. I'd give a pretty penny to find the actual scope rings that hold the single-point. That's the funky scope on the bottom.
Since photos can be misleading, what color do you think it was sprayed with? Gold? Greenish-gold? Looks very subtle, but I'm sure age has a lot to do with it. The guns in the screen-caps we've seen look to be a darker gunmetal color. |

Steve can correct me if Im wrong but the base did appear to be close to OD green with brass overspray. The overspray is very similar in color to the rest of the costume.

Thanks Richie. Is this gun a real machine gun or a casting? |

As I recall. The actual gun is a de-activated gun. Not a casting.
the color of the base is a gun metal blued. Standard gun color.. so to say... The over spray is almost dead on the what Richie and i have used for the Bronze paint for the armor with a very light black wash or it was just a dusting (most likely).

Thanks guys. Check out the curvature on the grips! Time for Shawn to crank out a V3. With this gun being used in Star Wars and who knows what else, I think it is amazing that no one has found an actual gun. You see real Sterlings all the time though. |

Yeah good eye. Shawn is aware of this. I think he might be working on that. I know if he decides to I will be very stoked for it. |

Considering that I've been more or less (and really for lack of a better word) obsessed with this particular prop for at least 20 years, yes, I can tell you there will be at least one more version of the nostromo pistol.
I've actually got some mixed thoughts about it, but not for the reasons you might think. I was always aware of some (though not all) of the shortcomings that my earlier attempts at the rexim-favor had. I knew the grips were not accurate in their shape, and I knew the overall size was a tad small. Part of this was because the only mass produced scope still commercially available that most closely resembled the ASI scope used for the nostromo and the SE-14r STAR WARS Trooper Blaster was the Tasco 4x20, which was about a half an inch shorter. I made a decision to scale the pistol to that Tasco because it just didn't look right the other way. That's why the single point scope is also little shorter, because I then had to make it more proportional to the rest of it. Would I have made the same decision now?
No.
Now, when Richie and Steve came to me two years ago and inquired about the possibility about producing some nostromo pistols for their incredible A L I E N EVA suits, I agreed, though the time table (along with my own hectic schedule) prevented me from making any of the major improvements that should have been done. This is where I feel, for lack of better word, awful. Awful that I couldn't/didn't get it right. I've got as much pride and ego as anyone else, and to fail at anything is just, Ugh. It's like having stomach full of acid. It just burns you up from the inside.
That's not to say that they weren't nice, or that I disown them, and I certainly made some other improvements/discoveries on them I'm very happy with. That said, I'm very excited about what I'm working on now. And I thank both Steve and Mr. Bob Burns for all the incredible assistance they've provided in this crazy pursuit of mine to accurately replicate this fantastic prop.

Here's a thought. Ask Bob to let you cast the original gun.
I didn't think about the scope being off for that reason. Makes sense now.
Here's a pic of latest with real scopes.
