Lots of stuff out this week including a possible trailer. Excited to see SRS`s new telling for many reasons including more David 8. Playing a "robot" is tricky on many levels and the Fass owns it.
Not sure if this a purely promotional shot but if its from the movie, cant wait to see the context.

Liked the fact there were elements from Alien, Aliens and Prometheus in the trailer and the spores approach is interesting.
Hopefully it leads to some questions and answers behind the method and reasoning of this disturbing form of weapons development. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

The movies copping some early flak over its apparent contemporary weapon design but it didn't seem to be an issue with a previous telling that is actually set 150 years after Alien Covenant. Itchy trigger fingers maybe.....

I've seen the weapons on the new one and there's nothing to be excited about...very bland and the design is somewhat unchanged from the original weapons being used |

Yep. Everything they used apart from the Smart gun and Pulse rifle was off the shelf stuff at the time. These guys were official military as well. Just goes to show its not a big deal.
I`ve decided to jump ahead of SRS`s new interpretation of the Alien universe
curve and now think of everything this way...
Alien Nostromo
Alien Prometheus
Alien Covenant
Alien .........(Name of ship in third of planned SRS quadrilogy)
Alien .........(Name of ship in SRS conclusion)
Alien .........(Name of ship in Neiil Blomkamps telling)
Bottom line on all this is I think SRS wants to re name everything to tie in to his universe and at the end of the day the one that might get left out is Aliens. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

It isn't just that it's a contemporary weapon, it's that this same weapon is the de facto go-to weapon for lazy science fiction films for decades. Instead of something iconic and fresh, we'll see the same gun as in Space: Above and Beyond, The Fifth Element, Firefly and others.
So yes, Cameron used some present day weapons too, but he also gave us the most iconic rifle in science fiction history. I'd hoped the creator of the Blade Runner pistol might do the same here, but he didn't.
Will this ruin the film for me in any way? Not at all. I'm cautiously hopeful about the look of this one! |

I think SRS may be waiting for his version of the military to make their appearance before playing his weapons A game. If the name of the ship in the next movie is something
aggressive, proud or war related, its on!
The energy based weapons he used in Prometheus didn't really gel with me in terms of the "universe" but they looked sensational. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Talking Alien guns has got me to start a make over of the replica VP-70.
Remember someone doing the green upper receiver thing a long time ago and was impressed so thought I might try that and a little something extra.
The shark teeth is just a paper cut out but decals are available and should look very cool. Will have to do a full fill in and sand down.

Love the prologue idea as a marketing tool, nicely done. A few more before May perhaps?
Still a bit put out of phase with James Franco, don't mind his work but just cant help seeing him as the some of all those roles of the past. Will see. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

I think Franco can pull it; he seems generally grungy in the movie...and it seems that he's the first to go |

Great trailer, but it begs the question: if there seems to be no animal in sight (you know, the part when she says: "Listen...nothing, no bird, just silence")
what kind of food the Aliens are eating? |

I thought the same thing, raises a lot of questions. If they did wipe out all life then they must be able to hibernate. Maybe the Engineers create ALL life and didn't get around to it yet on that planet.
I`m also starting to think that David`s head ends up on Walters body. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

I was really hoping that there would be a follow up campaign for Covenant and have been blown away with this one.
Robots are starting to scare the crap out of me. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Gives us a little insight into the new owners as well.
When you compare the "process" of the 2012 shorts to the recent one the Yutani style is much more ritualistic in its approach and that's far more unsettling than anything.
