Still here, too. It's still my go-to place for looking up information regarding props, costumes, production photos, etc. |

Still a go-to for information!
It's good to remember that every year, new people discover old films. My son is about to turn 13, and he keeps discovering films from my childhood that he just loves. Star Wars, Back to the Future, Blade Runner, Alien... he loves everything 80s and has always wanted the toys, collectibles... |

I'm here. On my third screen name. Joined October 2015 as Userd1402 but left after a couple of years because of issues with another member but rejoined in July 2017 as silverside. That screen name stopped logging on after I fiddled with the settings and since no-one was available to assist me get back on again I rejoined as BRD1402 in June 2022.
Long way of saying I'm still here and still checking the site every few days. |

Still checking regularly. I think it would be nice if some gracious souls could also post things here from the FB page (important info or sale offers)
I'm an oldie and not too fond of those social medias... |

Same here Pierre; Facebook had an public page for BR fans (with a few of our members here), but due to trolling and other problems, they had to make it private and only registered Facebook members could see/comment on it |

Still here! On occasion...
Been busy building some immersive Blade Runner inspired worlds for VR.
One got quite popular! 14,000 visitors since I uploaded a few months ago. I uploaded it to a VR platform called "VRChat", and people seem to like joining it in groups and relaxing, even sleeping in it. I don't blame them!
I started working on a second world and have been trying to set dress it. I figured I'd put in some paper prop litter by photographing my paper props from Fred / SKIN JOB 66. He will be credited First world was more Akira + BR, but this one is more of a sleepy muted BR vibe.
Of course flat screen pixels don't do justice to the wild immersive nature of VR, especially since I'm a fan of mixing in lots of 3D audio sources to surround the player. Here's what it's looking like so far!

I may be biased, but YES!
I got the Oculus Developer Kit 1 in 2013, the DK2 in 2014, and have been messing around in Unity3D making my own experiences and experiencing others' since. It's been the most exciting technology I've taken part in, in my life.
Went to the CV1 in 2015, then the HTC Vive in 2016, and am now on a Valve Index since 2022.
The Index has been crazy high quality but you need dedicated space to affix the Lighthouse sensors, and it's still about $1,300CAD.
For a first timer it sounds like the new Quest 3 is the way to go, even a Quest 2. Cheaper, better FoV and better pixel density I hear. And you don't need a dedicated space -- the software will detect boundaries and obstructions and even other people/pets for you.
With the Quest 2+3, you can use them Standalone, wireless, and have some fun experiences. But if you plug it into your PC and use the (newly upgraded) Steam Link software, you can play SteamVR games in your Quest, including more computationally-expensive PC-centered games like my VR worlds
I'd like to imagine everyone on this forum is at least a little bit obsessed with the tone, the atmosphere, the "feel" of Blade Runner, and by extension, immersive escapism. And there's nothing quite as immersive right now as what's happening with VR.
---
I'll have to take a video soon! I added more detail to my world, but also lots of more sound. The type -- and directionality -- of sound that isn't quite imparted in video or playing in 2D, but having your head tracked accurately and having your head's angle tie into directional/3D/"spatialized" sound. Not like I layered more than ~5-6 sounds at any given time, but when you're in VR with the volume up, audio adds a TON to immersion, so I like playing around with that.
I even uploaded it to the Public worlds list, and it's been on something called "New & Noteworthy" I guess, so strangers are already pouring in, so cool!
Both my cyberpunk worlds seem popular in Japan and China, as I see lots of random people on Twitter from those countries posting the photography they've done in my world and linking to it so others can join. It's kind of flattering!
The base game/metaverse it's in is VRChat, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. It's hands-down the best way to rapidly share worlds that others can join without friction, but the actual people in-game are quite interesting. It reminds me of Second Life in the early 2000s actually - a mixed bag of people trolling, some transient confused visitors, and a whole whack of people who essentially live in-game due to factors that keep them indoors and out of grasp from "normal" "real" social experiences -- physical disabilities, mental illnesses, etc. Everyone is quite welcoming and kind but I can't stay in it for more than an hour at a time lol. _________________
