I feel like a geek to be posting this on christmas eve, but I can now confirm how the key card was made.
Upon watching the keycard scene on my brothers blue-ray player earlier today, his tv also enhances and upscales the picture quality. You can only see this on the final cut version as they've cleaned up the print alot, but looking up close using a very good slow track function I can confirm that the keycard is infact as Southwell says "laminated".
Though it's not heat laminated, just plain old hand laminate cards where you lift the clear sticky top and stick it over your card (like sticky back plastic. On the blue-ray you can clearly see those edges (on your kevs card are borders) are where the card is cut and the transparent plastic of the laminate card is clearly visible now as it bears the colour of the background.
The obviouse crease on the surface is clearly where the laminate sticky plastic hasn't been stuck neatly.
I can also see where all the holes are as well as alot of extra holes we never saw before. Also the red kanji is clearer now and is semi transparent as you can see the graphic underneath it, meaning it was an overlay of somesort. |

I just received my samples back from the printer today.
We already agreed that the prop was a piece of card with some clear sticky plastic on it. My plan was always to make the prop you would expect to see, rather than duplicate the flimsy shooting prop.
I just need to tweak the artwork so that the colours are more intense when printed on plastic and I shall be placing an order for a load of them.
Interesting to hear that the Kanji is semi-transparent. I shall make that change too. Thanks Beast.
Now where is my blu-ray set? I bet customs are sitting on it. Grrrr. |

I'm sure they looked a little transparent, though it could have been another blade runner optical illusion best check the blue-ray again. They could have been hand written onto the card with a red china marker or something like that. |

Yes, I had a couple run off as a test. I am very pleased with the quality.
I was going to offer a run but I didn't want to tread on anybody else's toes. I know there was at least one wallet project ongoing at the time.
I have been away for a while and I'm just back now. Starting to get on top of things so I suppose now is a good time to offer a run of a few different items. |

That would be great if you did a run of your card. I was hoping that the Charles W. issue did not discourage your efforts. Unfortunately there will always be people like that in the world. Best to just ignore them (up to a point) and not let them spoil something you/ we enjoy doing.
Welcome back to the boards...

No, Wallace's work wasn't putting me off so much as filling demand. I didn't think there'd be many people still waiting for mine.
I just got up to find I have a flat tyre and the lights in my office have fused! So today's major tasks are to get mobile and shed some light on things!
Later I hope to get back here, see what I've been missing and make an announcement or two. |

Great to see you back, Kevin, and great to hear that you will be making "an announcement or two." Like many, I have never given up hope that you might make your apartment keycard available. You've done such tremendous work on it. _________________ "Your old titles mean nothing here... Captain!" |
