Hi everybody, Joberg here...newbie on this site and topic.
Could somebody explain to me why there's no clock in Deckard's apt.?
Maybe I didn't look closely enough but...cannot find one shot where you see, clearly, a clock. Funny isn't it? |

I always thought the LED display on the Fresnel Lens Monitor was a kind of clock, but never looked to see if it made sense that way. Either way he always seemed to wear his watch.

I recently obtained a Braun coffee grinder (in yellow) and a coffee maker (in white). Does anyone know how to remove the coffee bean canister from the grinder? I don't want to force it or break it.
Thanks!

Thats funny Tony, Ive got a coffee maker in yellow and the grinders white, swap cooffee makers if you want
The bean cannister just slides straight out. It jams if the lid on the cannister is not on flat. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Re: clocks.
From an on- set POV, clocks are a pain in the ass for continuity and such. Art Directors often leave them out or the on-set dresser or prop guy will let it fall off the truck.
As detail oriented as Ridley Scott is, it is possible he left a clock out on purpose... |

I’ve been reading a nice book: “Braun – Fifty Years of design and Innovation” by Bernd Polster. Gives a great history of Braun products.
There’s another book I haven’t read yet about Braun Chief Designer Dieter Rams entitled “Less and More”. I thought that title could function as an alternative motto for Tyrell Corporation.
Anyway, this thread has identified various Braun items used in BR. Here’s some additional facts as found in Polster’s book:
Coffee Maker. Type KF 35. Number: 4053. Name: Traditional/2. Year: 1978. Designer: Hartwig Kahlcke. Colors: White and Yellow.
Coffee Grinder. Type: KNN 10. Number: 4036. Name: Aromatic. Year: 1975. Designers: Reinhold Weiss and Hartwig Kahlcke. Colors: White and yellow.
Juicer. Type: MP 50. Number: 4154. Name: Multipress. Year: 1970. Designer: Jurgen Greubel. Color: White.
Fan. Type: HL 70. Number: 4550/4551/4552. Name: Tabletop Heater (this may be an error, as it seems to be a fan, not a heater). Year: 1971. Designers: Reinhold Weiss and Jurgen Greubel. Colors: White, Brown, Yellow. The original iteration was designed by Reihold Weiss as the Multiwind No. 4530 HL 1/11. But the one used in BR is the HL 70.
Of course, all of the above were used in white in BR.
It would be interesting to look more closely at the bathroom to see if there are any Braun items there too.

I believe there is one of the white HL70 Braun fans on eBay now. _________________

Thanks for sharing Andy...good book with great pics for sure.
A must for fans of industrial design in general and Her Rams in particular. |

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art has an exhibition entitled: LESS AND MORE: THE DESIGN ETHOS OF DIETER RAMS.

Looks well worth seeing!
